Having access to menstrual products is a human right. But we can’t reach menstrual equity without addressing other factors, such as period poverty and the state of our planet. The Federal Government is currently rolling out the Menstrual Equity Fund, aiming to increase the distribution of period products, as well as education for Canadians. Access and affordability of period products are key barriers (disproportionately impacting Black, Indigenous and people of colour, as well as trans and non-binary individuals and people with disabilities). Also, an estimated 20 billion plastic pads and applicators are being sent to landfills EVERY YEAR. As humans, brands, organizations, elected officials, and activists - let’s work together to break the cycle of period poverty, be mindful of our planet and help Canada to reach menstrual equity.
With every purchase of the Periods Together-Sweater, you’re not just becoming a menstrual equity advocate, you’re directly supporting menstruators across Canada. Proceeds are going towards the Let It Flow Campaign (Victoria) and Moon Time Sisters (Ontario): both working to end period poverty within communities in BC and Indigenous communities in Ontario.
